Workout Week 3 – Playing the Long Game

This week felt like a return to rhythm. Back on a normal schedule. Back to familiar routines. And like life often does, it came with a small adjustment.

I tweaked my ankle.

Nothing major, but enough to remind me that progress is never just about pushing forward. Sometimes it is about listening, adjusting, and staying patient. This week meant holding space for rest, adding a little therapy, and being thoughtful about how I move so I can finish the week if and when it makes sense.

That is still resilience. That is still showing up.

When I zoom out, a handful of modified or missed workouts barely register. If I plan to train thousands of times over the course of my life, five or ten or even fifteen adjusted days are a very small percentage. Resting now so I can stay healthy later matters far more than pushing through and turning something small into something long term.

This week also marked an important milestone.

For about two years, I followed a sixteen eight fasting routine. It worked. It helped me lose weight, build discipline, and improve key health markers. Cholesterol came down. Blood glucose improved. A1C moved in the right direction. Over several years, the data reflected the effort.

At some point last year, I realized fasting alone was not enough for where I wanted to go next. As my training increased and my focus shifted to improving healthspan, I needed a better way to support muscle gain, fat loss, and recovery. Weight training. Cardio. A mix of zone two through zone five work. All of it required more precision.

That is when I transitioned to macro counting.

Macro counting has allowed me to fine tune what I am actually building. More muscle. Less fat. Better bone density. Preparation for the mid to late game of life. One of my biggest goals is power. The ability to move well, stay strong, and remain capable for decades to come.

Along the way, I reached a more visible milestone. I recently hit 171 pounds. The lowest weight I have been since 2021, when this journey really began at 188 pounds. The number itself is not the goal, but it represents a meaningful shift. A fitter, stronger, more capable version of myself heading into 2026.

Week 3 reinforced something I come back to often. Progress is not linear. Bodies give feedback. Life gets busy. What matters is staying committed, making smart adjustments, and trusting that small efforts compound when you play the long game.
